The Happy Woman Store

"Hip,retro coin purse with the retro art of Anne Taintor (Click here to go to HER home site) and her sassy wit: Hmmmm...what can I buy today?"
Sean I think we should agree to buy each other gifts from this place next year...

the whole "for women" thing kinda' pisses me off...

The Point

So when I was in college, my sweet friend Elliott, introduced me to this movie, and though I have not seen it since, I remember it well. It originally aried on NBC in 1971 and is the story of Oblio, a boy born without a point...
It was created by American singer/songwriter Harry Nilsson (who was also resposible for the "Coconut", song... best remembered for its chorus lyric, "Put de lime in de coconut, and drink 'em both up.")
It is narrated by Ringo Starr (the Beattles were huge fans of his) and some of the songs are so amazingly pretty. I LOVE the opening one, which luckily is included in the tiny opening sequence above. Unfortunatley, I have only the first few minutes, however, if you click, you can download the movie in it's hour+ entirety. If you have kids, it's a must, if you have never seen it, it's a 'you really really should'....
here is a quote from Mr. Nilsson about it's creation:
"I was on acid and I looked at the trees and I realized that they all came to points, and the little branches came to points, and the houses came to point. I thought, 'Oh! Everything has a point, and if it doesn't, then there's a point to it.'" -- Harry Nilsson

MakingMusic

This is an amazing site. It is a list of 347 different instruments of every form and origin, and in an easy and appealing interface, gives you a photo, brief history, and several second sample of each being played. There are some truly amazing and to me, totally unknown, instruments here... read the history of the Theremin (a very bizarre instrument to be sure) wild stuff...
I have decided that I would like very much to learn to play the mandolin.

sexy

"I wanted Hyun-ju to take this photo quickly, as I was concerned about getting splashed by the enormous, butterfly-tattooed ass water fountain directly behind me."

I can't remember how I stumbled upon this blog, but the dude is HILARIOUS, and this weird Korean 'sex park' was unbelievable...
My personal favorite, was the collection of water fountains (the only ones in the park...) by the entrance...

Light To Unite

Light To Unite

So... while I do realize I kind of missed the boat with this one, as National AIDS day, Dec. 1st, has come and gone, but I thought I would still include it, as it is an imortant issue, and a beautifully done site. After lighting a candle (I have no idea if it will still result in a monetary donation or not, but it is easy in any case) you will be able to click on another and read a small personal story by someone affected by AIDS. Some are beautiful and touching, all are important. I highly recommend going.
