Dusk of American Culture
"Anyone complaining about the 'decline' of American culture needs to shut off their TV and get out into the real world. That's where American culture is. It's Americans going about their daily lives, working and raising a family, trading gossip and stories. It's people celebrating holidays and important milestones with their friends, families and neighbors. Bill O'Reilly, your notion that American culture is in decline is a slap in the face to all real Americans who work hard at their lives.
I've been going door-to-door campaigning a lot lately (that's when I took this picture), and I've met some people who are so fed up with politics that they won't even vote this year. Are they fed up with the ACLU, the 'secular-progressive' movement, the 'War on Christmas' or any other nonsense that's being spouted on talk shows? Hell, no. They're fed up with the back-biting, the hate-mongering, the incessant name-calling that's overrun the airwaves. That's right, they're upset with all the crap on TV. All the stuff that shouldn't matter, all the stuff that isn't real. Bill O'Reilly, you don't exist after we turn you off; what you say doesn't matter in the real world. Because the majority of the people in this country, no, in this world, would be perfectly content to work enough to put food on the table, raise a family, spend time with their friends, and go to sleep without fear in their hearts. You can whip people into a frenzy with talks of invading brown hoardes and godless commies because it's good for ratings, but people eventually get sick of it, and they tune out. And they tune out to politics altogether, which is the saddest thing, since politics should be about how we decide to live together as a society, and not about what some Viginian wrote in his book. "
